📖 Usage Guide
Tracking gold and currency prices is one of the most repeated daily tasks across the Arab world — whether you trade in the gold souk, invest in bullion, travel and need the exchange rate before converting, or receive a remittance in dollars and want to know what it is worth locally. This page combines both in one place with automatic refreshing, instead of switching between several sites and reading stale numbers.
The gold section shows the per-gram price for every traded karat — 24, 22, 21 and 18 — in three currencies in the same table: US Dollar (the global price), Saudi Riyal (pegged at 3.75) and Egyptian Pound (at the live exchange rate). You also get the ounce price and the price of the 21-karat gold coin, which is how the local market actually trades.
The currency section shows exchange rates against the US Dollar for regional currencies: the Egyptian Pound, Saudi Riyal, UAE Dirham, Kuwaiti Dinar, Qatari Riyal, Jordanian Dinar, Moroccan Dirham, Algerian, Tunisian and Iraqi Dinars, plus the Turkish Lira, Euro, British Pound and Indonesian Rupiah.
The history section shows how the per-gram price moved over the past thirty days with its high and low, so you can judge whether it is a good time to buy or better to wait. Note that the gap between dealer buy and sell prices — the making charge — runs about 2 to 3 percent on second-hand gold, and more on new jewellery.
The page refreshes its figures automatically every two minutes. The numbers are for estimating and daily comparison and are not financial advice; your final price is set by the dealer. To value a specific piece by weight and making charge, and to work out the zakat due on it, use the gold calculator.
